Down Under

Wow, what an amazing week I just had. It was my first time in Australia, well my first time leaving America and me and my friend Katrina were welcomed with a great start at Travellers Contact Point. ( http://www.ultimateoz.com.au/ ) They gave me all the information we needed, and explained what the package came with (tons of different things). After a 22 hour plane ride, we made ourselves at home at Wake-Up, and once everything was settled we were invited to a Welcome Dinner downstairs at Side Bar. We met everyone in the group with us that week, people from all over the world, that were all unique in their own ways.

The next morning, after a long first night in Sydney, we went on a walk throughout the whole city and got to see everything it has to offer. We got to see the Opera House, walked through the Botanic Gardens, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and much more. It was loads of fun, and we all took fabulous pictures. After seeing everything, we ate lunch on a gorgeous rooftop restaurant that overlooked everything. The view was beautiful!

....Oh and we saw this brilliant man who was performing in front of the Opera House. Me and Katrina were dancing to his music!

The next day, we all went on a cruise of the harbour. We got to sight see along the way, and drink and dance all day. This was one of the funnest days of the week that I had. We ate at this spectacular fish market and got a huge platter filled of calamari, octupus, scallops, shrimp, oysters, and much more delicious food! We went to a private beach and played "soccer" North Americans vs. Everyone else.....we demolished them! :) We also went cliff diving which was probably the scariest moment of my life, but after a long long long long time of everyone screaming my name and trying to get me to jump, I finally did it and it felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. It truely was an wonderful experience. We also went to Manly, walked around there and got to see many places in Sydney. It was a great time, with great people and I enjoyed it!

After a long but extremly fun day, it didn't stop there, we went out that night to some bars and had so much fun.

The next day was the surf trip, which I didn't go to unfortunately because I was sick, but my friends told me that they had a great time!
On friday, we came to Travellers Contact Point, and took our RSA course, which entitles you to serve alcohol. So for some jobs that I would be interested in they require that you have this. Which is great, because it only took one day and we were certified!

On Saturday, all of us went on a walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach. They have a trail that you walk along and beaches inbetween Bondi and Coogee. It was such a breath-taking walk. We got to see all of the spectacular beaches in Sydney. The ocean is so crystal clear, and the beaches are very clean. Luckily, we got there while the Surf Competition was going on, which was an experience to see professional surfers competing against eachother. There was so many people on Bondi Beach, it was a wonderful time. After our walk, we went to a bar and kicked back with a drink, and than headed back to the hostel.

Our last night together was on Saturday night, where we went to the Gaff. (Of course me and Katrina were running late) But, we met everyone there, had a couple of drinks and had a great time with everybody!
The last day of the week was Sunday, where we went on a long journey to the Blue Mountains. It felt like I was in a postcard, that's how unreal it felt to look out and see these beautiful mountains. We spent the whole day there, sight-seeing and looking at the mountains from all different points. It was one of the most awesome place I've ever been to!

Unfortunately the week came to an end. I will never forget it, and couldn't thank the people from Travellers Contact Point enough for helping us every step of the way and introducing us to the place we are going to call home for the next couple of months of our lives. It truely was an amazing experience and I would recommend this arrival package to anyone! Cheers!

                                                  That's Dan from TCP...he's great!
